Control Modeling PRoject

Modeling Traffic with Metering Control

In this project, we used optimal control theory and functional analysis to model a metered on-ramp onto a highway. We attempted various scenarios with different equations for the traffic on the highway, the demand for the on-ramp, and the variety of vehicles. We encountered multiple difficulties where our equations were not creating useful solutions, which gave us opportunities to return to our equation design and work on the problems we encountered.

I was involved in frequent team meetings where we worked out different equations and wrote their respective numerical solvers. I helped with the brainstorming solutions to our problems with the equation and troubleshooted my team mates' code. Finally I wrote several sections of the final paper and helped with the editing and revising.
